With a brace of tries by both Amber and Grace, as well as three others touch downs by Lucia, Charlotte and Alia, the Under 18’s got their Surrey Cup campaign off to a flying start.

Dorking started really well scoring two tries in the first 10 minutes through great support play and off loading. The defence held firm with Madison particularly doing well against the Warlingham 10 Lexie who has destroyed us in prior fixtures. We went further ahead with two more tries one out wide for Grace, and a 70m interception by Lucia.
Turning around the girls were then playing up hill and into stiff breeze - the Warlingham team raising their game and using their kicking game saw two quick tries to bring the score to 24-12 - twenty minutes to play Dorking picked up their work rate on and off the ball with one phase of play of 17 passes, four rucks ending up with a debut try for Charlotte under the posts, Alia clinching her third conversion. Grace did some excellent defensive tracking back twice to stop Rene (their super quick winger) to hold her to just one try early in the 2nd half. Warlingham did score again through a barrelling run by Lexie, but  Captain Amber cleverly took a quick tap and scored from 5m out to clinch the win.
39-19 was a fair reflection on the team’s excellent defence, passing, straight running and off loading against a strong team we haven’t beaten in the last four matches.
